The Indian Library Association (ILA) is a premier association committed to the cause of Library Movement and Development in India and represents those who work in or advocate for Indian Libraries. ILA has provided a wide variety of services and programs to its members and others in the library community, since its formation on September 13, 1933 when the Association was formally formed at the First All India Library Conference at Calcutta. The Department of Library and Information science is Functioning in the University since 1997 with the aim to provide up to date LIS education to the students through effective teaching programmes and practical training. The Department is working with the vision to educate individuals for career as librarians, information professionals, activist, information sciencitist and Knowledge managers. The students are educated and trained in order to undertaker instruction, research and service oriented programmes that require current emerging information technological developments and market requirements. The DLIS serving to student from all the parts of the community through education research and out-reach programmes in “Library and information science” aspire to provide education in Library and information science through its various programs.
